Mindful Revolution Mental Health
September 30, 2017
FreeDr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s conversion to Buddhism is deeply significant for millions of people in India. It rejected the caste system and Hinduism, radically re-interpreted Buddhism and created a new sect. The movement has sought to be a socially and politically engaged form of Buddhism.
It was not only a socio-political revolution but also revolution of thoughts. The 2500 years of slavery, inferiority and complex was up-rooted and replaced by new way of living based on equality, liberty, fraternity and compassion.
Buddha was commonly referred to as ‘the great physician’ and like any therapist, made it his aim to identify, explain and end human suffering. Almost two millennia before “Sigmund Freud: the father of psychoanalysis” spoke about psyche, the Buddha spoke of the human mind, identifying that all human behavior is under the responsibility of the mind. Dr. Ambedkar reiterated this Buddha’s teaching in modern times by giving Buddhism as new therapy for our downtrodden mentally ill brethren. We were and are still suffering from the complexities of caste system.
We Nirvana Socials aim at talking about this “Mindful Revolution”. We at Dikshabhoomi will talk about Budhha’s philosophy of ending suffering through Dr. Ambedkar’s vision. We will talk about, “Positive Psychology” which more closely mirrors the Buddhist approach.
This will be our small attempt to give positivity to the millions of people coming to acknowledge this revolution. We will give counselling from clinical psychologist, if need be.
Come and join us on 30th September, 2017 at Dikshabhoomi to
